Candlestick course · Lesson 20 of 20

Your complete chart-reading routine

Explain a chart calmly, including what is uncertain.

Let’s make it simple

You can now read a chart like a careful reporter. A reporter separates what happened from what might happen. Your final project rewards that distinction, not the ability to guess the last candle.

Understand the idea

Start with the market label, units, timeframe and whether each candle is complete. Describe OHLC, bodies, wicks and the recent swings. Mark a relevant zone or anchor only if it is genuinely visible.

Write at least two possible next outcomes and one observation that would challenge each idea. Check whether you have confused a nickname with evidence or a story about traders with a fact.

Choose a paper-only observation plan, including the option to wait. If you use a pretend position, state the entry assumption, loss budget, planned exit, costs and the fact that execution can differ. Review the process after the hidden outcome is revealed.

A small worked example

A completed UP candle closes above a marked range. You can say, "It closed above our band." You cannot say, "The next candle must rise." A good next note is, "A return into the band would challenge a continuation idea; a further rise remains possible."

Your turn

Complete the final project using the unseen-outcome case. Present your explanation to a partner in two minutes. Ask the partner to underline every statement that sounds certain about the future.

Compare your exercise with a model response

Use the project rubric. Give credit for facts, alternatives, explicit uncertainty and a complete paper-only process, including waiting.

Pause & think

Check your understanding

Write an answer, then compare it with the explanation. This is self-study, not an automatically graded test.
